Our Story

At alto, our passion is ignited by our personal experiences. When we think of how we can improve alto, we think of our loved ones - our kids, our parents, our grandparents - and what we want for them. 

The COVID-19 pandemic shone a light on the long-existing problems within long term care facilities. More than ever before, Canadians want to age at home. Unfortunately, there are a lot of barriers still in place. Home care agencies are expensive, have a weekly minimum number of hours you have to book, and require communication to go through the agency before going to the caregiver. Other home care platforms out there charge monthly subscription fees and offer no protection to their users, requiring users to go through the time-consuming and stressful process of vetting candidates themselves. We knew there had to be a better way.

So we made one.

We vet the identities, credentials and criminal record checks of every caregiver on our platform so that you can focus on finding a caregiver that suits your family. We offer online payment so that you don't have to worry about awkward cash hand offs or etransfers. We also prioritize the fair treatment of caregivers on our platform. This means allowing them to set their own wages, control their schedules, and choose which clients they want to work for.
